melted a part

ok I found a part in my car melted.. I dont know what the part is and what it does.. There is a tube that comes out from the back of the engine that goes into the EGR valve well on that tube there are 2 little hoses that come off of it.. they both plug into the part I melted.. WTF is that part.. must have some kind of leak now..

its this black plastic part with 2 holes in it so you can plug the hoses from the EGR hose..

if its the piece i think you are thinking about , has two vacuum lines , one red coming from manifold , one green going to egr , its the egr vacuum soleniod , controls the vacuum to open and close the egr valve , probably stuck egr closed if its FUGGED up .

I was also thinking of the EGR solenoid. It's the only thing that fits the description.

I think it has something to do with the exhuast.. the tube that goes into the EGR is big and you need a cresant wrench to take it off.. if you follow the tube down a bit there are 2 hoses off of it going to the little black plastic part.. on hose is a little bigger then the other.. I think it says something like ref and hi on it or something..

you see in the pic.. you have the EGR valve.. and the tube coming out the back.. the tube goes behind the engine and it has 2 hoses coming off of it.. now see that round thing close to the EGR valve with 2 vacuum lines off of it.. right behind it bolted to it is the part I melted.. what is that part..

not sure , take it off and post the OE part number on here and/or call your local dealer with the part number since you probably need to price it anyway , once you find out what it is try a junkyard first incase the dealer wants an arm and a leg for it

If I'm looking at the part you are thinking of it is called a "differential pressure feedback EGR". It has a place for 2 black hoses, and the 2 two hoses go to barbs titled "HI" and "REF". Is that what you are thinking of?

yeah that is it.. I melted it.. is it a problem not to replace..

I just know what it is...I don't know how it will affect drivablity. I'm not even sure of what it actually does. Hopefully someone else in here will help. You might even be able to call up Ford and ask them about it. How did it melt btw?

I had to modify the tube that goes to the EGR.. and it was sitting on the tube..
