I scraped it completely backwards trying to go up a real steep driveway. It's scraped pretty good, can it be painted? If so, what kind of paint should I use, and what kind of prep-work is involved?
I dont know how you messed it up bad enough that painting would resolve anything? Maybe a pic would help? Can you sand it out, they seem to be a material you could do that with a bit.. but I haven't heard of anyone getting paint to stick to theirs too well
Sand that scratches out with like 100 grit, move up to like 220, 400, 800, 1000, then paint with Krylon Fusion Flat Black. The sanding will remove the scratches if they're not too deep, and the paint wil make it black again.
If it is a textured piece u can not paint it. I work at a body shop at you can not make your paint ahave a textured look to it. U cld just said the full thing down and paint it the same as your car. Let me know what yur gunna do
He might not get the exact texture, but he can get it black again so it is more subtle.
IM FASTER THAN: Do you think he would have luck with a wrinkle finish paint (even if he had to lightly sand the painted area afterwards to lessen the texture [the wrinkle finish paint is probably more textured than the OEM finish])?
