Messy oil change at ford dealership!!!

I do my own oil changes, no ones driving my car except me....

That's BS man. There's no excuse for leaving a car like that no matter how much they're getting paid to do it. I've been a mechanic for a fairly long while (quit doiing it fulltime a few years ago). When I worked as a tech at a Dodge/Lincoln Mercury dealer I got paid .3 of a hour for an oil change ( that's 18 minutes) and I never left oily prints anywhere on the vehicle. When i got done with any repair I gave the car back the same way I would want it back. Doing something that simple is the best way to keep somebody coming back and requesting for you to be the only person to touch their car. I had more than a few people come back and tell them only I should work on the car simply because I would take the measley 5 minutes to wipe the car down and clean the windows before returning it to the customer. When people find a tech they trust (especially at a dealer) they will almost always go back to that person only. And if for some reason you do make a mistake the customer is much less likely to start ripping people because they know that you've always treated them well in the past.

There are only 3 people allowed to work on my car and they all work at Modularpowerhouse. Tim could drive my car for a month and I wouldnt care .

Oh and I always do my own oil changes.

So do you not complain when the food you ordered is visibly covered in dirt? They don't have time and they don't get paid too well so it's ok for them to drop the food and still use it.

My Dealership Horror Story

I carried my brand new 03 GT in a week after I bought it. There was an issue with one of the leather seats. I also had them put this so called special wax on the car and treat the leather seats. They had a two for one deal. Probably a waste of money but they gave me a 5 year warranty on my paint and 3 years on the leather surfaces inside. When I went to pick up my car it had wax all over it sitting in the parking lot. The guy half ass wiped the car off. I drove the car over to the detail area and stood there and made them wipe everything off. After I got home I did a better inspection. I noticed a place on my front bumper. When I got down on the ground I saw were the idiots drug my front bumper over a high yellow curb. They didn't stop till the wheels touched the curb. I raised so much hell with them they took my car and another new grey GT off their lot to body shop and switched the bumpers. So someone bought a brand new GT with a repainted bumper. Needless to say it scares the hell out of me to think about going back to the dealership. At least oil and grease wipes off.

To answer your last question first, about jacking the side of the car. Unless you have something like the Kenny Brown jacking rails, you can only do one corner of the car at a time. Even with subframe connectors, using the factory jacking points, I can't get the front and rear off the ground at the same time. 'Stangs aren't exactly lightweights, so I don't think I'd put a floor jack under a subframe connector alone.

Sorry you had such a bad experience at the dealership; I'd be more than a bit pissed if that happened to mine. Since you have an '04, I'd take the manager up on his offer, though, for the free oil change. I seriously doubt the animal that worked on your car is still employed there. Every time the dealership does an oil change or service, it's entered into OASIS on your car. If you happen to blow the engine before the warranty is up, having the service record in their system rules out lack of factory required maintenance as a potential cause. While you can change your own oil/filter, if ever you have a warranty claim on the engine, you could play hell trying to prove that you did the oil changes at the proper intervals and used the proper materials. Just something to consider for the first 36K miles.

My local dealer runs what they call a Fast Lane. It's a totally separate building and staff from the main service department. They only do oil changes, brakes, other minor repairs, and it's a no appointment needed thing. The place is spotless, both in the waiting area and shop. There's a big plate glass window overlooking the service bays so you can watch everything going on. They even have lounge chairs along one wall of the shop so you can really get up close and personal if you want. In and out in about 1/2 hour, $30.00 and I'm good to go. You may want to see if any of the other local Ford dealers runs something similar.

I have worked at a small dealership First as a general tech then as Tech advisor. Also I worked at NTB changing tires. Leaving a tire loose got people fired. I dont care how much money they pay , the safety of the customer is first!
The only place I have had get oil inside my car was a Ford Dealer, The advisor handed me some stuff to clean it, I left and never went back.

Getting oil in or on someones car was never exceptable. Even NTB puts a papper floor mat, plastic over the seat and steering wheel.

Low pay is no excuse for not taking care of the customer.

i too work at a dealership, i take care of the customers cars and try not to get grease on anything, close the doors with my forearm so not to leave prints. But I also get paid strait pay, im not on line, some of the guys I work with are slobs, and are just trying to make a living, not exactly their fault that ford sucks and pays so little time on most things. And also I was guessing 6 tenths on a Lof and rotate.

Oh and before I was just trying to bust some balls, just trying to have a little fun

I'd rather give away my car than let the dealership do an oil change on it.

I used to do all my own changes since I started driving at 14. Hell, I used to change my mom and dads oil when I was younger than that. I go to my mechanic now and he does it for free. I bring him the oil and filter and he does it right there while I talk to him. I trust him 3rd behind my parents and siblings. He is a great guy and I trust him as a mechanic and a friend. He always lets me help out when doing work on the car and always lets me be right there under the car when he works on it. Best part about living in a small rural town.

Well is this what you paid for? No you paid for a fully cooked pizza done the right way. You could care less what they get paid or if they have slow workers, all you care about is that you got what you ordered. Most normal people would not do business with that place again if that's the way they do things.

It all boils down to the fact that there are two kinds of workers. Ones that care and take pride in their job and ones that could care less and just do what it takes to get by. I bet you though that the one who cares will be the other ones boss one day!

Lol well yeh that the way they do it here in NY. Eat the damn pizza cooked or not, complain, and well spit on it, haha.

If you want something done right, do it yourself. It's that simple folks.
