I am looking for a good quality short shifter. I have heard a lot about this short shifter but is it worth the money. Is there any problems with it or am I better off we steeda or another brand.

Most people love the MGW...but I can't see myself spending $200 just for a short throw:shrug:

all shifters are in the 160-180$ range. you can get a Tri-Ax for 169$ or a MGW for 179$ and a pro5.0 for 159$. just gotta pay a bit more for a better shifter (IMO MGW's advantage is the shift handle and its ability to be adjusted more than standard stang shift handles)

i don't think there is a better mod to put on your car for $200 imo, seriously this is my favorite mod so far, and forget i even have a short throw most of the time because it feels so natural, as if it came this way from the factory

I like everything about the MGW shifters except that they don't have adjustable tension. The spring rate going from 3-4 to 5-R is just WAY TOO HARD. I love the throw but the spring rate is killer. Maybe you can ask them to send it with a lighter tension on that side or something....

The MGW shifter will probably be my next upgrade. I'm doing it for several reasons; the short throw, no more missed 2-3 shifts and be able to have a beverage in the cup holder without hitting it when shifting to 2 or 4.

The MGW is definitely the way to go. Had one on my 04 GT and it was awesome. Very smooth shifts and a very tight feel to it. My uncle had a Pro 5.0 in his Mach1 and it felt a lot looser to me. The Pro 5.0 did feel like an upgrade from stock but the MGW just blew it away.

Best $180 i ever spent on the car. Not only is it awesome when going WOT or at the track, it just makes everyday driving sooomuch better. Sat in a GT with a stock shifter the other day and i honestly couldnt understand how someone could drive with that excuse for a damn rowboat paddle.

If you think thats too much money to spend on a shifter, go to ameet and find someone who has one and try it. Bet it changes your mind.

IMO I'd rather spend $200 somewhere else....

Yea thats what I thought as well. I LOVED my stock shifter and kept it until I had 13K on the clock. Then I decided to just go for it, but didnt expect much difference.
WOA was I wrong....I couldnt belive how short the throw was. I tried to put it in reverse a few times and thought it wasnt even going in....problem was it was so short that I though I was still in neutral!
I then installed the steeda handle onto my pro 5.0 because the stock pro 5.0 handle sucks...VERY short and had to reach for 5th.

Now 5th feels like 1st used to be....every gear is right there with 0 reaching.

Steeda handle + PRO 5.0= PERFECTION IMO. I have 0 desire for any other shifter or improvment. I literly cant think of anyway my shifter could be better or improved....its that good. But I would like to just try an MGW car because everyone raves about them
