Hello hello, this is an exact dupe of a thread i posted at FEP. Alot of people are interested in this new shifter so here are some pics of my install and some opinions.


Ok, some of you have been following along in another thread as a waited for my new shifter. Well i got it in on friday, very well packaged. I got around to installing it today. Overall i am simply amazed at the difference. It's like driving a completely different car. 2nd-3rd shifts are positive, solid, and quick. Poor choice of words, i just don't know how to describe this thing. I am extrememly impressed with the work that's gone into this, and the end result. Also i would like to note, it is DEAD QUIET. This shifter is considerably quieter than even my stock shifter was. Quick, solid, quiet, and looks great. What more could you want?

Here are some shots of the shifter and install

here's what shipped,

some side by sides with the stocker,

positioned in the car,

bolted in with the blue handle installed,

with the knob back on,

here it is all wrapped up wth the boot back on.

how much did that cost? I am looking for one and would like to get it.... also were did you buy it from?

Crunchie, The shifter is priced at $175+ shipping and that includes one handle of your choice. There is the blue handle that i have and a red handle that is slightly longer and taller. Only place to order is from MGW directly,

the thing i don't get is, you can adjust the handle left and right, unlike any other shifter. but if adjust to far or not enought, wont the change the position of the threads for the shift knob... making a 5 speed desige look like its side ways or off to one side? or am i completely wrong?

i havn't had that problem. The knob stiffens up so much as it gets threaded to the bottom i could pretty much position it any way i want.

so you went from a stock to the MGW? i'm just wondering on a comparison to a Pro 5.0 which is what im running and very happy with.

i have a question, do you have those shift stops adjusted right, it doesnt look like it will even move much that way......maybe its just the way im looking at it

nice looking piece though

the stops are adjusted correctly. That's the beauty of the shifter. Since the pivot point from the center down to the shifter ball is longer, the top portion doesn't have to move much at all. This is how MGW has shortened the throw instead of just making a shifter with a shorter handle. There is very little space between the stops.

That is why you use a nut underneath the boot, and snug it up to the boot, as the shifter knob is snugged down on the boot.. nice and tight, wherever you want it.

Very sweet lookin' piece. I like the idea of being able to more freely adjust the handle where you want it...

hehehe, u know i have. . I went out yesterday and really wailed on it. I kept stopping just so i could go 1-2-3 over and over. lol.

Pushrod, I havn't measured the throw. It is very very short though. I should measure from 2nd - 3rd.
