Hey all, I have been watching the exhaust threads lately and have decided it is time to get a o/r midpipe for my car. I am still confused on what to get though. The car already has the Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back on it, so I want to stick with that.

I heard a Mustang the other day that had a funny rattle sound coming out of the exhaust at higher rpms. I DON'T want that sound. I want the nice deep tone. I was going to buy a UPR X-pipe because of the price, but it sounds like I want an H-pipe instead? Anyone have any suggestions, or have experience finding a mid-pipe with the Flowmaster A/T system?

I would run the dr. gas x-pipe. There are sound clips on this board I have seen them before. Email tim over at MPH about it. they used to rave about the sound and power. I did not go with it because it is alumized and I wanted stainless. you are already alumized to me it is a no brainer.

I would not just run any x-pipe with it though. the dr. gas has the crossover closer to the manifold. I think the flowtech does as well.

I used to have Dr. Gas with my Flows.
It sounded awesome!!!
Tons of compliments, even from some old couple :rlaugh:
BUT....the drone was insane!
Gave me a freakin headache everytime I drove the car.
I even tried it with cats welded in.
I put up with it for 2 days and threw back on the stocker H. :nonono:

Yeah well 40 series flows=drone in my experince. I have had them on tons of cars. the only way to eliminate it is to add things in to muffle it like cats, resonators, prochamber, etc.

the 50 series are not that bad. they are quieter though. I had both 40 and 50 series on my chevelle. the 40 series sounded wicked but droned so bad it was nuts. I used to like that in my younger days. I switched to 50 series and it was melower but still sounded great and tolerable to drive. that car had an agressive cam more compression, etc though so it would sounded better than a stock 4.6. Do they make a 50 series mustang catback? I have always kind of wondered why people who love flows but think the 40's drone to much just don't run the 50series.

now in my twilight years at 30 I like sound at WOT and no drone at cruising rpm.
