Yeah, I'm thinking about trading a local guy a Ranger for a 4-bangin' Fox. It's a '93 hatch 2.3. Only thing I don't like is that it's an auto. It has a really nice body (dark blue) & I think it would look great if I slap some chrome Cobra R's on there and use it as a DD. My '94 is currently getting around 14 MPG! I'm just not into the lowered truck thing anymore .... even with the bump stops cut, they are a fairly rough ride.

Anyone know some specific areas of the car to check before making the deal? I know a bit about the 2.3's already .... but any input will help.

Well, I do have a couple layin' around, but I doubt it will get one if I get the car. Not for a while anyway. Gas prices are killing me.

Thanks matthias ... I'll check those areas. I know the interior has some wear, but I can fix that. The guy said the sunroof leaked a little.....

That, my friend, would be a definite possibility. I've seen the power acheived from a 2.3T, and it is scary. You can get those complete motors for cheap, too. 500 HP & 25 MPG .....

Sorry, I did not initially read who started the thread - I assumed it was Patrick by default.

That sounds like a nice route to go Justin. James (The Shape) picked up a 4 banger fox to augment his 5.0 fox and I think he likes having the 4 banger for DD duty.

And ricers will think it is a V8 with the dual-spark ignition.

Good luck with the decision.

By DEFAULT. I wonder if he even drives the cars that he "temporarily" owns?

Yeah, the deal is still in the works, hopefully I'll know something in the next couple of days. Funny that you mention the dual spark ignition .... a couple of years ago, a guy actually asked me if my truck was an 8 cylinder (while looking at the engine, of course). I was like "what?". The 8 plug deal kind of stumped him. I should have said yeah, lol. Somehow, I unintentionally made him feel like an idiot (whoops!), but now he knows, lol.
