Well, the title pretty much says it all. It sounds like a metallic whistling sound when I accelerate. I can't hear it when the car is sitting idle, only when I accelerate. If I do need one, what would be the most ideal place to get one from and how much would it cost? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

are you sure its the fuel pump? I have a 5 speed 5.0 and the T-5 loves to whine. I know a bunch of other T-5 backed stangs making the same noise....not sure why though.

It could be the tranny but I doubt since the tranny is new and only has about 2k on it. I'm not use to the AOD in the car but it really doesn't sound like that's what it is. What would be some symptoms of a bad fuel pump? It cranks right up, without hesitation so I don't know what the problem could be. It sounds like it's coming from underneath the left side of the car.

I had a whizzing/scraping noize from under my rear. Turned out it was the bracket that held the parking brake cable. It had bent down so that during acceleration the cable would rub up against the drive shaft as the car lowered from the down force. Look for rings around the drive shaft that would indicate something scraping on it.

Does a fuel pump whistle? I dont mean to be a smart a$$, but i have never heard that before.

Could it be your rear gears whinning?

Your pump will sound higher in pitch if anything before it goes.
