Well, after replacing the head gaskets twice I've come to the conclusion that my engine block probably has an internal water leak

After the first round head gasket replacement the coolant system was being pressurized and blew out coolant from the intake gasket. And, there was obvious oil/water mixture.

The second round head gasket replacement seems to have same issues. Water/oil mixture again.

History:
1 year ago, after putting the Paxton on the car, it went boom and steam flowed from the tail pipes. Lack of fuel upgrades and no bypass valve most likely causes.

So, I am in the market for a short block. Something that is basically stock with upgraded pistons. I am only planning on 350-400rwhp.

Any suggestions as where to purchase it?
Being in Boise, ID I will most likely have to outsource from another state.

Are you sure that deck surface was flat when you replaced the head gasket the first time? Same goes for the heads.

I ask cause there was no mention of this

A leak in the lower intake gasket can cause water in the oil too.

If you're planning on rebuilding the shortblock anyway, you can bring the block to a machine shop and have them check the heads and block for you. Have them magnaflux the block to look for hidden cracks.

These are all good points. I will have to check the decks of the heads and block. I did make sure to clean them really good before putting it back together both times.

On the second try I used Permatex Copper spray-a-gasket since I used MLS gaskets.

No real way to know until I can get the block magnafluxed. Depending on how much that cost I will probably just get a built shortblock to save time and money. I doubt getting the engine magnafluxed, bored and decked locally would be much cheaper than getting the shortblock.

I was just about to ask the same thing also. This is something that usually creeps up and bites ppl in the arse. At the dealer we had the heavy line guy replace the headgasket on a 300 twice but he never checked the head, he assumed it was fine (20 years there) and sure it turned out to be the head warped. So definately check that.
