I just finished searching this forum to try to figure out for myself exactly what milling the head was. The only results I found were about guys having it done, but nothing about what it actually was. Can anybody help me out by educating me as to what milling the head actually entails? Thanks for any help.

They shave the lower part of the head off. This makes the combustion chamber smaller and thus raises compression which is horepower.

So, having the head milled is just another way of saying 'shaving the head'?

To any of you that have done this, how much did you shave off and how much did your horsepower increase by? Just so I get an idea of what to expect.

I knocked .060 off my 91 dp head. Unless you enjoy resetting the computer and are very careful on the quality of fuel you run, it's too much(I'm cheap and still run 87 octane most of the time). I doubt it gives much horsepower by itself, but with other mods and a fresh valve job the motor gets much more responsive. With everything I have done on this one,I'd estimate somewhere around 15-20hp, but it is real responsive and pulls much harder on the top end.
