if it's more of a gurgle, that's normal.

Hmm, sounds like the problem I was havin bout a year ago. Was running Arco, cheap gas, car would backfire under acceleration, hesitating when flooring it. My recommendations: run higher octane gas, use fuel injector cleaner, check the timing, and maybe tune up ignition: cap, rotor, plugs, wires. Don't have 2 much fun. Just keep in mind, its normal for my car to kinda surge when down shifting. Example: going faster than I should, hehe, then down shifting, the car likes to gurgle a bit, but is normal.

pull codes. do a tune up (cap, rotor, plugs, wires? and fuel filter). not that these will help, but they wont hurt ('less you just did them).
when you pull codes, run it through a balance test.
that should eliminate some easy stuff, and help pinpoint the problem.

when you shift from say, 3rd, to second, with no blip of the throttle, you will get some hiccups since you dont have the butterfly open to pass air. sometimes a lean condition can exacerbate popping on deceleration. you can check your vac setting, but since you dont know what your cam is, it might not help much (except to know that you have vac).

good luck.

I'll check all those...but this seems a little more than normaly i could unstand one or two little pops but this is constant until it gets below 2500 RPMs...say your cruising at 3500 in 3rd....let of the gas and pop pop pop pop pop pop til it gets down to lower RPMS....

My old car used to do that when I hooked up my MSD. As soon as I unhooked it and ran the stock ignition it went away. Every one of my friends cars that ran MSD's (6 AL's) this would happen to as well. I think it has something to do with the multiple discharge ignition.

have you heard a rednecks truck with glasspacks, does the same thing.it is normal, or you could have a small exhaust leak and it could be bringing in cold air into the pipes
