Was the hi torque mini starter standard equipment on the 92 and 93 Mustang? Or is the hi torque version only available after market?

Also, I think it will bolt right up to my 85 motor since it's a stock flywheel. Is that correct? Tks.

My '93 had a factory mini starter on it until I changed it out with a PA mini starter. The original gave up the ghost. As for gears, I'm not 100 percent on this, but I think the mini starter will work on an earlier flywheel gear.

They started using them in like ~91. My 92 2.3 had one. You can use them on older models....IIRC all you have to change is like one wire going to it.

Someone told me that there are two mini starters - a regular version and a hi torque version. I thought that all mini starters were the hi torque model.

Can anyone confirm that for me?

Tks for the info so far.

since i work at a parts store and have done some research on parts and part #s during boring times, i can help...

the 93 cobra came with a version of the mini starter that has more cranking power than the rest of the starters. It is like $10-15 more at advance auto. it will also bolt directly up too.

So did any other Ford vehicles come with the hi torque mini starter? I've sourced one from a 95 Mustang V6, a 92 Ford F150 and a 93 Cougar but I don't know if they will work on my car or not. Tks!

umm i have a 93 lx and it has a regular size starter, because i just had to replace it... i dunno how big a regular one is but if its any bigger than the one i have then it would weigh enough to slow the car down.
