On the back of a 67 they look huge! They said because size wise those big tires don't look right and also, to get into the frame rails and re-working them and all the interior panels is a ton of work, that makes the interior of the car a lot narrower than it already is..

A visual trick to make for a larger appearing wheel, is to order with a small amount of backspacing which creates the dished look. I went with an 18x10 on the back with 4.75" of backspacing - this resulted in a little over a 4" dish in the wheel.

Check out my website with some updated pics of my new wheels. I have the complete air ride suspension kit front and rear and once I can get the wheel tubs done, I will be ordering the custom dutchman rear end and will hope to have the ride height set this spring..

I run a 245/40/18 with a 5.25 of backspacing, based on my cars fitment etc, I would say I could get away with a 255 or 265 front tire on an 8 or 8.5" wheel. However, keep in mind the lower you want the car to ride the more conservative you'll have to be with the tire/wheel sizes..

I guess you could always run some negative camber to gain some clearance - but based on my car and a couple of my dad's 4.75" was needed at least. Just make sure you double check your measurements... Those measurements were also with stock suspension and drum brakes. Im sure with both upgraded that will change it a little too. Luckily 4.5 isn’t a custom backspacing on any of the wheels I want, 4.75 would be.
