Well I just got a great deal on a set of used Ford Racing 3.73 gears. The gears came in today and all the teeth and wear pattern looked great with the exception of a couple of very very small chips on the very end tips of the pinion teeth. Just wondering if they will cause me any problems, or not. The chips are very small and only on the very end tips of about two of the teeth on the pinion gear. The rest of the two teeth look great. I'm kind of on a budget and hoping they will be allright. Any suggestions?

Junk..They are now lifting weights. Gears are under a heavy stress and are brittle because they are hardened so a chip of any kind will be a part failure and will cause more damage or your death if they fail at 65mph and wheels lock up.

I agree with ^. Just go ahead a get a new set. I understand the whole budget thing, but if you install those and they break, you could be paying for a whole lot more than just a new set of gears.
