Misc. Leaks

I know its not going to be easy to make a leak-free car, but it bothers me. Least is the oil leak, it just leaks a little, probably from the drain plug. Last time I changed the oil, I did replace the plastic washer. Second is the transmission. I'm pretty sure its just leaking around the pan, slight possibility that there may be another leak (small) near the yoke. Last, and most noticable is the rear end leak. I replaced the center section about a year ago and it leaked a little, but its just getting worst (or mabye the same, but I got to fix it), its a new assembly so I dont want it to run out of fluid. I can't really identify where the leak(s) is coming from, I've retighted all the bolts, I think it is also leaking where the driveshaft hooks up. What should I do?

You have to replace some seals and gaskets.

Additives?

No.

It's just seals and bolts. 101 technology applies here. Make sure you have fresh seals, make sure the mating surface is clean and dry, and make sure the mating surfaces are not grooved or pitted.

Slight leaks are how old cars mark their territory.

I can deal with the small leaks in the tranny and oil, but the rear end leak is what bothers me. It's way to much of a hassle to pull that out and replace the gasket, besides, I used a new gasket and RTV when I installed it. Is there any other alternative? anything in particular that could be causing the leak(s)?

You need to take the "personality" out of the equation. They are just hunks of metal. With the proper seals and torque specs, they will not leak. Mine doesn't and hasn't for 3 years now.

Are you sure it's the gasket and not the pinion seal? Is your yoke clean and free of scratches? Was the surface on your housing clean and free of scratches or pits?

Same questions as above.....
