okay, my car will miss under a load and fall on its face sometimes. sometimes it seems like it has 2 speed acceleration, if I punch it, it will fall on its face but still go, then it will just take off. I have pulled the codes and all I have is

33-egr closed erattic of not enough flow (I don't have the egr hooked up)
94-thermactor air system bank2 inop or fuel controll circuit failure
44-thermactor air system failure

don't know if any of these codes are the problem but any advice will help
also, I have a fender CAI kit with a pro-m 75 bullit maf, whats the deal with clocking the meter?

I also do currentl have a pretty big exhaust leak on the pass side at the collector, enough to cause a backfire on decel.. any help is appreciated.. thanks- Mike

I don't see any codes that would cause the problem you are describing.

Clocking the MAF changes the airflow through the MAF. Some CAI kits may cause turbulence and that disrupts airflow through the MAF. Clocking the MAF can help by orienting the MAF pickup to a place where the airflow is smooth and undisturbed.

Have you done the standard tune up stuff like fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs and plug wires? Have you had the TFI tested?

I would reccommend the Spectre Seal-4-Good , from Autozone , have one on my passenger side header . Has some special dead soft aluminum in it.Copper one would just not get sealed there. Lean towards the MAF , think you should try a different one after you eliminate the positioning of MAF (like jrichter says he is good),fuel system , vacume leaks . I would recconnect the egr stuff too, and to make sure the egr pintle is clean and functional remove from the engine, then use carb cleaner on it . One of those hand vacume pumps would be helpful in the cleaning process(when you pump up the vac the pintle should move back) also(wear eye protection that cleaner is nasty), the carbon will eventually dissolve just takes a while did on mine. Hope this helps :)

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. um yes I have new plugs wires and fuel filter installed. i do have a stock tfi module on my MSD dizzy because I broke the MSD one that came on the pro billet distributor... anything? and the exhaust leak is at the header collector where it goes into the H-Pipe not at the heads. It just feels like when I punch it it stumbles then it just takes off almost like its not getting enough fuel right at full throttle when I punch it. I have checked the tps, I have fuel pressure set at 43 with vacuum connected and can monitor it with a in car pressure guage. I have 24lb injectors and a calibrated MAF. someone has to have had this problem. other mods are in my signature. mabye I have a wrong size t/b maf setup? I have 70mm tb and 75 mm maf I don't know anymore!! he he thanks in advance.

I had the same problem ....
But all i did is get a new set of plugs and removed all the wires and cleaned them . The issue with my car was that my dam equal length headers always manage to toast my #4 boot an cause the spark to arck with the car.... Car would run fine cold but when she got warmed up it would do the same crap...Just open your hood at night and turn the car on and look for the spark on the pass. side and if you see a spark then thats what it is.
i changed my cars plugs and repaired the boot and it runs like a champ now(i also use the live wire plugs)

hey, thanks for the replies. um, i also have the same equal length header problem as I seem to toast all of my boots!! how do you other guys get around this? I also am using the Livewires that have the thick protector on them but they still burn. I suppose this could have something to do with it.

I got some of these from a local speed shop

But they still toasted the boot so what i'm planning on doing is removein the header and marking it and heat the crap out of it and make a small dent in it..oh yeah and then i will wrap the headers with the same heat protection as the boots and the wires have....But like i said this is the reason your car is doing this i can promise you....

Seems a little high! At what rpm does it seem to kick in at?

43 with the vacuum plugged in is very high, that puts it around 50psi with the vacuum off.

I think he ment 43 with the vacuum unplugged though.

I thought that to, but ya never know. Besides if he did, that could be the source of the hesitation right? Can't make power when you're choaking the motor with too much fuel!

I had the same problem - It took 2 minutes to fix and .50 worth of electrical parts cleaner - I took out the MAF heated wire element and sprayed it, let it dry and put it back it back in. Hope this does it for somebody.... It drove me nuts for a couple days until I figured it out.

sorry I haven't written back. Um I have the fuel pressure set at like 3 something with the vacuum off and it goes up too 43 plugged in. the car will hesitate until about 2500 then take off. not always though only sometimes. feels like its not getting fuel or something when it does it.
