Hey everyone....

My friend is having misfire problems again with his 92 GT. Recently it needed wires due to a miss, but I've had 8 stangs and this new problem is a first for me.

It starts well, idles fine at all times, but as soon as you load the engine, whether free-revving it in neutral or going down the road, it has a hard, and I mean HARD misfire.

It is not a sag, or a hesitation. It acts like someone is rapidly turning the key off and on, and the tach drops almost to zero every time it bucks.

In actuality it's not very load sensitive..it will buck even at light throttle, just as bad. The only criteria is that it has to be running faster than idle speed.

We checked the wiring to the coil, the grounds, plug wires, cap, rotor(which are all new) and everything seems to check out.

It gets expensive throwing parts at it, so I need to know if anyone has had this kind of problem. The tach dropping down so far at each misfire is what is puzzling me the most..it makes me think it's losing power to the coil somewhere.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Check the battery cables also. Sometimes they corrode so bad inside that it can loose connection under load.
