I have a problem I need help solving, i'll start from the beginning... The car had been sitting for 8 months (had another car i was driving & no money at the time) . The reason I had stop driving it was a blown passenger side head gasket & the c4 was in bad need of a rebuild. I finally had $600 saved up, so I got another T5 to put back in it, intake gaskets, & a head gasket. I put the T5 in, then started it up & made sure it would move both forward & backwards, so i started on the head gasket. Everything went perfectly... for about a month...
The car started off not missing at all, then slowly started missing more & more. It took a month to get it to missing all the time (Mostly @ idle & especially when it was cold). Then about a month in from getting it running one day it just started missing all over the place. It felt like i was driving a 4 or 3 cylinder. Took the car home & replaced the cap, rotor, & plug wires...
Perfect, it ran great... Not one miss... About 3 weeks later same scenario started coming back. I didn't let it get that bad this time. Ordered: aftermarket vpower plugs from NGK (gapped at .046), summit 8mm plug wires, accel cap & rotor, & a summit coil.
Fixed it, back to running great again... 4 weeks later (present time) It's starting to miss again on low end only (thats how it always starts off). & I have no clue what's causing this. I've been told quite a few things & I can agree with some of them, but there is one thing that's really confusing me. Why does it do it a sh** load more when the engine is cold? Somethings that should probably be mentioned that I think would play a bit of a role in this; The timing is set at 20 btc, (I know it's pretty high) & the cam is an x303 with stock rockers, which I think is a definite problem & could have something to do with this. I've been told fuel filter (i can believe it, it's got 50k on it), rockers, plugs fouling, & ignition module.
I've had the ignition module tested, turned out it's in good condition. I'll take the plugs out & get some pictures of them tomorrow, aswell as checking the fuel psi. I'm trying to fix this problem as cheap as I can, which is the only reason I havn't replaced the rockers yet. Things keep breaking or bills take up my money. & i've tried turning the timing down to 16 AFTER the missing had already started, it didn't seem to help much at all.
Thanks for the help.
