I have been having trouble with clutch cables lately so I bought the package from MM that included cable, firewall adj and quad. Well upon removal of the cable and fortes firewall adj and quad I noticed that the cable cut the hole in the firewall. I pryed the hole to straighten it out but it still flexs with the new cable installed. Does anyone know how to support this flexing issue? Also it appears that the cable MM sent me is too long. I can not use the stock bracket to support the cable. Anyone have any ideas?

Ive heard of people putting a piece of reinforcement sheet metal around the clutch cable hole because of firewall flex. That might be the way to fix your cut cable hole.

The cable is long, it's normal. I didn't use the bracket , the cable is stiff enough that it just sits in there . I haven't had any issues in 2yrs.

I agree with using a sheetmetal reinforcement on the firewall. Having it flex or crack is not uncommon.

I didnt even use the cable's bracket, instead making my own 'soft' brackets to hold the cable where I wanted it.

What if i had a 1/8" plate made to screw or pop rivit to the area. Would that work? I mean it is a flat area plus with the firewall adjuster I would be able to adjust for the added firewall thickenss.
