Just wondering if anyone knew that Mobil 1 just recently released the 5w-20 Extended Performance oil. I guess it is supposed to have advanced SuperSyn formula and protection for 15,000 miles with the use of the Extended performance Mobil 1 filter of course. Runs about 6.50$ a quart at good ole Wal-Mart.

Just wanting to know what peoples opinions are about it!

Yea, 15,000 miles seems like alot to go between oil changes. I've been using the Mobil 1 regular 5w-20 and next oil change I'll probably switch to the extended. I believe its only about 50 cents more a quart.

thanks for the replys

A lot of the UOA's coming in on M1EP show that 8k-10k is probably the limit you'd want to go on this oil. Make sure to get a great filter or two for going that long.

I saw that stuff (almost $30 for a jug!) and kinda paused at the shelf, too. But I started thinking about the short trip driving I do in terrible heat (Florida 6 mos summer) and passed. I use Mobil1, (10w30) and FL820S filters.

I kept a brand C turbo car going past 170K by changing oil every 2K. Then again, most people are religious about changing their car's oil when the car is fairly new, but "lose their religion" after a few years.

I would like to hear reports from people who have sent their engine oil in to be analyzed, especially those who use the high zoot motor oils. Should have little "wear" particles in the oil, correct ?

I am using Penzoil Plaminum plus and been running great for 50k i change it every 3-5K.

I used to run Mobile 1 syn when I lived in the UK on all my Sports Turbo cars I changed it every 6k and it was a good oil back then so you probably couldn't go wrong with it now. :nice:
