I guess by now, its no secret to most of you that ...... I don't like mod motors.
Main reason is their lack of low end torque.
I was reading the October 5.0 rag which has lots of mod motor stuff in it, just like the other issues they put out ...... but we won't go there.
They had an 05 with JBA lt's & off road h-pipe, Dynomax mufflers, and pulleys. On page 131 you see an article where they install a CMRC delete kit and give the results of the gain with a pull showing chart and numeric rw hp/tq values.
I was kinda sorta impressed by their results and thought to myself ...
What would that modded 05 look like next to my modded 95 which I consider to be typical of the average bolt on 94-95 Stang. I say this to point out that this post is not all about ...... just my car.
I have an Excell file that I built which allows me to easily compare combos to mine and each other.
I plugged in the Mighty Mod Motored 05 in the rag and put it next to my humble combo to see what was what.
The differences are not as much as I expected in the higher rpm range but still, the low end is pretty soft on the 05. It doesn't make 300lbs of torque until 3500rm.
I had the opportunity to drive an 05 stick car shortly after they came out and it was a real Bow Wow Dog until you got the revs to mid range or slightly higher. At that point it would really move for sure.
Everything else about the 05 I absolutely love btw.
I guess Ford has found the right solution for the mod motors lack luster low end performance. Put a positive displacement blower on it to prop up the low end.
Final thoughts ......
PUSHRODS FOREVER
Anyway ...... you can see a modded 95 and 05 next to each other which make close to the same peak numbers.
