I have an 06 auto Mustang GT with 4.10 gears, cai, underdrive pullies, 62mm throttle body, BBR side exhaust, o/r x-pipe, lower control arms and SCT II with 93 octane tune. He has a stock 6.0 liter GTO. Who do you think will win from a dig?

If I was a betting man, and I am, my money would be on you. As I understand it GTO's have 350 hp but are slow as hell.

There are two classes of GTO... Well not really classes but changes from production year.

2004-5.7 350hp (IIRC)
2005-06- 6.0 400hp

O I C, well I'm just guessing but I got to believe you would still take him in the 1/4 mile.:Track:

Modded, most certainly. Those are very heavy cars.

Un-modded you should take him, especially if he has an auto... watch out if he has a manual and that engine can get obscene with only minor mods to intake, exhuast

He does have a manual, but he is not the greatest driver and has no mods.

Are you guys serious???

I thought the 6.0's were something to be feared? Like low 13's high 12's?

Auto's are faster on goats. They are heavy and can not hook. That car is nothing special. The motor is great but that car has nothing on him. Even modded, it would need spray or for a stanger to not know how to drive his car.

Mustang

We have the same mods as you with a auto and we have beaten both the 350HP and the 400Hp both in auto and stick. The best part is we have raced them both a couple of times and the wife still beats them in our Mustang.

Ask Doc GTO He will give you an honest answer. It sounds like he lives at the track

FWIW I ran into a guy on the street with a 5.7 gto and asked what he ran, he still had his # on the back window from the track so I knew he had recently been there. He wouldnt tell me his mods but I atleast knew he had an exhaust and he was m6, he said his best was 9.3 in the 1/8. Now all things considered he has 50 hp less than 6.0, he may not know how to drive, bad track prep. But last time I was at the track there was an 07 gt bone stock running consistent 9.0-9.3's. I watched the guy with the gt run and he was not getting traction in 1st and 2nd. I run 8.7 with my mods and I go side ways in 3rd with stock tires so I am sure I can squeeze out more with better tires.

So basicly what I am getting at here is that a stock stang ran faster than a possibly modded 5.7 gto. A stock 6.0 gto I dont think will manage with a modded stang. I have come across gto's at the track but none have wanted to run against me. This guy I know has a 5.7 he is modding and says we'll run when he is done. I will post vids when this happens, if it ever does.

Nothing against the GTO almost bought that car before I got my stang. Reason I didn't was because I could not find an m6 in the color I wanted.

I have yet to run my '06 at the track yet, but the best run with my '00 GT manual was 9.14@77.68 w/ 2.14 60'. All I had done to it was Eibach lowering springs and Flowmaster mufflers. Still had original factory rubber.
The 9.3 from the 5.7 GTO has to be leaving alot on the table.

The 05,06 GTO has the ls2 motor and stock runs low 13's from what I've read. Correct me if I'm wrong, but most stangs run high 13's stock. With your mods, I think its gonna be a driver's race. With the right driver that GTO will get up and go.. Let us know how you make out. I'd love to hear the result. I owned an 04 GTO and yeah, its heavy, but it will still move. The big advantage for the stang is probably 0 to60 while the advantage for the GTO is gonna be 3rd gear and up.. Are you guys gonna run the quarter?

I will be going to the 1/4 mile track next Sunday. I hope to run some mid to low 13s. I will be working on my launch and hoping to get some decent 60' times as I will be running stock radials.

I hope i am eventually gonna run him, but i have never run at the track, so idk what my car does. I do have nitto 555's though, so i should run a littel faster as "07gtfolife" said. If I do ever run him, i will make sure i post the results though. He is not a good driver though.

If he is a bad driver, you should take him. He's gonna have a hard time off the line because the GTO takes some practice to launch. If you beat him off the line, I think you'll take him. If he hangs with you off the line, you're gonna have your hands full as you hit the upper speeds. Good Luck, and I look forward to hearing the results..
