Auto's are faster on goats. They are heavy and can not hook. That car is nothing special. The motor is great but that car has nothing on him. Even modded, it would need spray or for a stanger to not know how to drive his car.
Even modded? lol The LS series of motors is the only thing I have ever liked that chevy has done. They are beasts and not to be taken lightly. They put down a hell of a lot of power with just a lid and exhaust.
I have raced four GTOs, all LS2. I beat three(Approx 2.5 cars) and one waxed me real bad. Not sure of the mods but it was around 3 cars he pulled on me. One of the three I know had at least some exhaust work. All were manual, two races were from a dig and two a roll. I also raced a new vette at Orlando Spinworld. We both ran 13.7s, we both had traction issues spun bad through 1st and 2nd. All races were without JPC driveshaft and Steeda pullies.
I ran a 05 GTO stock my car then was 100% stock and I got him by
a car to around 60
In motortrend their # for the 6.0 GTO are 13.3 for the 1/4 mile
Pullies and CIA/tune and It's a close race.
A fellow officer at my department just got an 06 GTO with a six speed and that car is fast, but i could believe it being a drivers race with a stock GT. The GTO is about 200 + lbs heavier and has less of an equal weight distribution than the GT.
Stock for Stock, win would go to the GTO if the driver knows how to launch the car correctly.
One of the big GTO issues is wheel hop, many guys install drag bags to correct that.
CAI doesn't really do a whole lot, unless the computer is custom tuned. The stock air box does a pretty good job with the stock tuning.
I've run both of them on the street. Beat the 5.7 by a car and lost to the 6.0 by a car. It will be close either way. It's all about the start, if you can make it stick that is where you will get your lead, after that it is pretty much equal.
Ok. I ran into a 6.0 yesterday. The guy asked me what I had done, told him a few boltons. He said he had some work. We ran 3 times. 1st time he missed 3rd. 2nd time he was neck and neck with me till I hit 3rd gear then I lept in front of him by half a car. 3rd time He got me on launch but I reeled him in and shot past him on 3rd, again half a car. I love my stang.
