I tried posting this in the cobra forum, but I guess they don't like answering my questions. I have a 97 cobra with an a/t catback, and tinted windows. I am getting ready to do my first round of mods, and I have a few questions. For springs, would you guys suggest prokit, or sportline? I originally wanted the sportlines, until I read the reviews, something about crushing the e brake cable. Then I looked at the reviews on prokits, and the drop is anything but consistant. I would probably get pissed if I only got 1/2 inch drop after messing with the install. Another reason for going with the prokit, was the ability to keep alignment, without c.c. plates, and most reviews said to use them on both. Anybody have any personal experiences to share? Next on the list is 4:10 gears. The deal that I am getting on these is too good to pass up. what should I expect? From what I gather each gear pretty much acts like the lower one did before swapping. I could be wrong, but I think my cobra has 3:08 right now. what kind of 0 to 60 times should I expect if I actually get good traction on street tires? Iam also going to put some illumina shocks and struts on at the same time as the springs, Opinions? and finally a prochamber. I have heard that that should wake up my delta mufflers. Any comments or suggestions are greatly appreciated. thanks, chris

Gears are such an improvement, and lots of fun...

Gears will make your car feel so much quicker, and also make it a bit more fun to drive

thats what I was thinking last week, I heard they were on backorder! Does anybody know where to get h&r cheap? I'll just have to wait my current budget will allow gears, or c.c. plates. I guess the springs will need to settle before I get an alignment Why can't I just make up my freaking mind. prokit, sportline,h&r Am I the only one with this problem?

Maybe it is the picture, but is your car lower in the rear than the front?

In response to the last question about being lower in the rear, the fenders are cut different. the front ones are higher than the rear ones, giving it that apperance. At least that is how it was explained to me.

I saw prokit today on 18's.. it evens out the gap between the tires and the body really nice. But something about it makes me want to go lower.. H&R might be the one..

Well a tape measure would answer that question in no time. Just measure ground to fender at each corner.

Pro-Kit Pics on '03GT

These pics were taken 10 min. after install and un-driven. They finished "settling" after driving a while. 1.5 " even drop on all 4 corners.

Don't measure from ground. Reason being that measurements may be different due to variences in tire pressures, shape and wear. Try measuring from the bottom of the wheel rim or bottom(center) of the hub itself. Be sure to be on as level a surface as possible.

Good luck

anybody know what kind of 0 to 60 improvement they got out of 4:10 gears? the fenders really are different heights, just stand back and look, or maybe I am nuts which is entirely possible, but these days who isn't.

As far as springs, I started a thread that was basically a Pro-Kit, Sportline, H&R Super Sport shoot out and I think the end result is that H&R is totally the way to go! I know CottonBurnerz definitely had fun reading that one! Here's the link and you can check out that thread:

http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=436154

But the only thing with H&R Super Sports is they drop it about 1.75" and you might need C&C plates. Some people seem to need them and some people don't. But I think that if you check out that thread it should answer a lot of your questions about springs.
