What mods would be the best bang for the buck and not adversely effect reliability. I would like to get 330-350hp at the rear wheels without a blower or nitrous..........at least until the warranty expires. Anything else besides cat-backs/CAI and flash programmers/ gears ect.? Thanks

any performance mod can Potentially cause a reliability problem, even something simple like a CAI.
To get 350rwhp you are going to need to free up/generate another 100 horses over stock.
So I would guess it will require almost as much work to do as it would to fit a blower on there.
To get 400bhp crank out of a 4.6 (if you like to work on the 15% rule it would be 340rwhp) it will take all the bolt ons (exhaust,manifolds, CAI, electric water pump, pulleys, C/motion plates (?), tune to mention some of them) but I would guess cams are really going to be needed and probably a port & polish job on the heads.
I could be wrong though, as there are some people putting down some good dyno numbers (around the 300rwhp mark) but this is where the 15% rule is probably flawed becuase a few bolt on's is unlikely to net over 50bhp crank. I would guess more like 325-330bhp crank. This would tally in quite nice with the stock dyno numbers (think stock is about 275-280'ish if memory serves). So there should be a similar loss too a slight increase thru the drivetrain as that would have remain constant (ie same box, clutch, prop & drive shafts, beaings ans on).

think you will be lucky to hit 310 rwhp without a blower/nos.
if you did all of the "bolt-ons" should be a lot more fun to drive,
then you could always bolt a nos kit on it for racing.
the other option is to check with your local dealers to find what they will
hold you to. also, i'm guessing ford will have a blower kit availible at some point for these cars. should give you some leverage with your local dealer.

While having my car tuned at the dyno, another gentleman posted 321rwhp. His mods were... long tube MAC headers, MAC procahmber, MAC axle-backs, JLT Cold Air, Charge Motion plates, UD pulleys and an SCT tune. Held his own against an 03 Cobra while on the first test drive. Stayed bumber to bumper whit the guy, really confused the Cobra guy!

sounds rather impressive, although it doesn't leave all that many more mods to go, electric water pump then its onto the heads and cams. I would guess that it should be near or slightly above 350rwhp with a bit of luck, but I would still guess that the drive train is sapping 30-40hp at most putting the crank bhp at around 380-390.nbk13nw said:
That would mean it is producing about 85bhp/litre specific output. I doubt whether you would really see any more than that n/a out of the mod engine and still be streetable, but who knows. The new 3v setup and variable timing can perform wonders.

my response was with that in mind. besides, after installing long tubes on several different kinds of cars (no 05 stangs yet) i will say long tubes definitely do not "bolt on"

Took me over eight hours but I still would consider them a bolt on item with nice gains. I choose to go with the catted prochamber so I might of got a few more hp with the offroad version. I'm still in debate on the head port and polish or SC b/c the head work with install would be over half of the cost of a SC kit....So if Ford releases a blower/SC kit for the 05 GT (according to http://www.fordracingparts.com one is on the way), does that mean we can get it installed from the dealer and it won't void the warranty?OWENMUSTANG said:
