Mold on fiberglass scoop? How-To needed...

My dad gave me a fiberglass hood scoop that I can have if I want... it is very similar to this:

How do I go about attaching this to the hood? I was thinking of going to Home Depot and picking up some tough as nails (or other construction adhesive)...

thoughts?

I will be painting the car so it needs to be at least decent...

I'm getting ready to re-do the scoop on my 67. Originally did it with fiberglass as stated above. Problem is, depending on the scoop, you may have a fairly thick flange to blend out.

Go to an auto parts store that specializes in auto body products. they make some 2-part adhesives that will work much better than a home depot product. They'll also adhere to your hood with much less material than doing the fiberglass to the hood trick, and won't require as much shaping and blending. The product I've got (can't remember the name off the top of my head) is what GM currently uses to attach new truck door hinges to the body (no bolts!)

I've seen vintage hoods done with this technique, and it looks a LOT better than a fiberglass job.

This is funny story...

We had one of those scoops on my roommate's car and we apply some 3m double sided body kit tape thinking that it will hold. it held good on the street.

One night we decided to go out to a bar and jumped on a freeway we "Of course" were speeding a little and "WHOOSH" The scoop flew over and hit the windshield and bounced off and hit the car behind us. and i think we broke or cracked the other guy's windshield too.

And with our luck the car that was following us was CHP. So my roomate got a speeding ticket(he was following us because we were speeding in first place and were going to pull us over) and we got yelled at for about good 45 minutes.

I thought i was back in detention in high school :(

So yeah mold it in and make sure that it don't fly off man :)

So what is that 2-part epoxy?

As for fiberglass and resin I was thinking since the hood is fiberglass and so is the scoop I could even just scuff the hood really well (no paint) then lay down some fiberglass resin and jsut put the scoop on it?

Thoughts?

Epoxy is "Fusor 127EZ", made by LORD. I got it at the local autobody supply, along with a gun for applying it.

I don't think your plan above will work, but I'm not an expert. If you glass it, you're going to want to lay some mat over the top of the flange too, to make sure it stays on (see post above), stays tight, and doesn't crack your paint. It'd suck to get the car painted, then find out you did the quick and easy route for your scoop, but it needs to be redone in 6 months (plus you owe some cop a windshield!)
