Moldings...

Can the side moldings from an '87-93 be used on an '86? I need new ones for me Capri and I wanted to get the ones from a '93 maybe. The '86 replacements I have have the rubber look to them. But the '91-93's look like fiberglass. Am I wrong? Are they just painted?

Subscribing. I didn't even know anyone made pre 87 replacements. I need a drivers door molding bad.

Depends on which ones you are talking about. The mouldings by the bumpers are a plastic type molding and are held on by sheet metal bolts through the fenders. The ones between the wheels are rubber and are held on by double sided tape. But with the 87-93 you will have a different type of molding that will not match your bumper cover trim style.

I bought some LH and RH side moldings from 50resto.com and i accidently ordered the 85-86 moldings, I needed the '93 moldings. If your interested in them, they are brand new and still in the wrapper. And these are the hard ones, not rubber, and they use bolts to secure to fender. Here is the page on 50resto...

Do you have any left overs of a RH side door molding for a 93 LX? I don't want the whole kit I only need the one piece.

they won't work. While they may physically bolt on, they'll be completely wrong, as the rear and front bumper covers have the mouldings molded on, and you'll be completely unmatching, it'll look quite silly.

Thanks fellas. I think Im just going to get new ones for my sides. And once I get them on, paint em to match the car.
