I just got a curved monte carlo brace for the car. However, the strut towers are to far in for the bat to fit. I tried jacking the car up on one and both sides, but still no luck. Any ideas, or am I just out of luck on this ?
thanks

you'll have to jack the shock towers apart.

There is a crossmember that runs under the engine; jack this up in the center and it will let the top of the shock towers relax. Depending on how much your shock towers have collapsed inward at the top, the result could be instant fit to letting it sit jacked up overnight. This crossmember attaches at both sides of the frame at the bottom; by jacking in the middle under the oil pan, the tops tend to go back to where they should be. A front end alignment may be necessary afterward.

it goes between the fenders at the seam where the shock tower is bolted. see attached photo of my 67.

Measurement needed

Can anyone measure or provide info on how far apart these should be (I am assuming the monte carlo braces are all the same) as I will have to make mine up for my I6 powered '65.

I would like to tighten my front up a bit.

I measured our '65 coup at the center of the stock holes that are in line with the MC bar. This car has had a export brace and MC bar for years and the MC bar and export brace go in/out with no problem. The motor isn't in the car right now so there is no load on the chassis.

42 3/4" Car.

42 1/2" MC bar.

I was looking at Monte Carlo Braces and some say will not fit cars with factory AC. Is there someone that makes one that will fit? If not is it the mounting bracket on the compressor that is the problem? Is there someone that makes an AC bracket that will change it enough to allow for the Monte Carlo brace to work? Thank you for all your help and advice.
