more hp with pi head swap than just stock pi's

Yipes!! A cracked head? Was it a fairly visible crack? I wonder if I should pressure test them? How'd she run when you fired it up? Are you going to get a flash or dyno tune?

HOLY CRAP, that's not cool. I was considering ordering that kit too. I already have the PI intake so I only really need the heads and gasket/bolt kit. I saw the kit at GEF racing for 120 and was thinking about ordering heads from Tim. Still in planning stages.

The hp/tq didn't really come alive until after the chip was custom burned with all the bolt-ons and other "tweaks" done to it. It's worth the money, especially if you take the time and do it yourself. It's not that difficult, just time consuming.

I wonder if aftermarket cams with a bit more duration could bleed off a bit of compression for you so you can run regular?
 
yeah i was really disappointed with parkway about that head. somewhere down the line it cracked and they obviously don't check there inventory.

if i had the money i woulda gotten them p/p'd, removed the swirl dams, got cometic gaskets, and looked for a decent cam but oh well. i think im gonna build up the bottem end and get it ready for a power adder next.

CanadaStang - when i first fired it up i had no h-pipe on and damn, it was sick sound. i havent drove it much but it seems faster every time i take it out. i gotta look for a place to get a dyno tune.
 
Thanks tomustang! I checked my heads today and all is good. I looked to make sure all the parts were there when it first came in, but never thought to check for cracks on a new head. Thanks for the advice, I would have been really cranky if I would have found a crack in one. I'm going to get started with mine tomorrow.I'm starting to 2nd guess myself as to wether this is a good idea, as it's hard to rip apart a perfectly good motor, and maybe risk making it run like crap. :(
