on the saturn got it all together today and its running quiet and perfect... after 15 minutes.... white smoke puffs are visable out the exhaust... its probally the head gasket... i just put a new one in... but after my grand father thought the car jumped timing when he cranked it ;he pulled the head to check the valves... they were fine so he retorqued them down.... Im not sure if this caused a problem or what... its every once in awhile i get smoke... should i just torque the head bolts down a bit more... or do i have to tare the sucker down again and buy another gasket:bang: aparently the saturns head bolts streach so they were also replaced... any ideas

Would a hella lot of condensation from sitting from 2 weeks cause something like this to happen.... its not over heating im just getting white smoke here and there... but ive seen a big plume once or twice... i just went out and beat on the car a bit... its a quick little bugger...

I would just keep driving it. It's seen just about the worst an engine can see. Worst case scenario, you drive it for a few weeks and THEN have to replace the HG. I have done several HG's on 4 cyls. Every one of them blew white "smoke" out of the exhaust for upwards of 5-10 minutes. Two did A LOT of it. After that, no problems!

Just drive it.

update! smoke is light blue... i found a proven way to see the smoke... if i let the car sit running for 5 minutes and rev it... it puffs out a cloud of blue smoke... this leaves me to belive valve seals.... but they were all just replaced when the head was rebuilt... do the valve seals take time to seat properly... i have the smoke on video ill post tomorrow... i also caught it on camera puffing a little out on the 1-2 shift

Compression results:
1: 186
2: 187
3: 191
4: 190

My guess is the rings are good... i got rid of the breather filter someone put on and replaced it with normal vac hose back to the intake and just changed the oil... no coolant in it... Didnt smell sweet... I changed the oil to 10w 30 now... i havent seen smoke yet but i only have been driving it for 5 minutes....

shake around the pcv valve, does it move inside? if not, it could be stuck open and the vacuum at idle is pulling oil into the intake which would get burned alot faster when high volumes of air go through the throttle body.
