I meant in the radiator. Take the cap off when its cold, let it idle and warm up, and check to see if you see the bubbles in the radiator itself, not in the overflow. If you see them when you start it and its idling for a min or 2, I'd guess the headgasket.

I've had 1 of my headgaskets leak coolant into the oil upon initial startup. Even if you do everything right, theres a chance it might not be right.

Question,
Did you put rtv around the water jacket ports and on both sides of the intake gaskets around the water jackets? It's possible you could be leaking into one of your ports a little.

I can let it idle and warm up with the cap off? Just making sure. And im not sure if theirs pressure in the radiator, ive only seen the bubbles in the overflow tank, ill check tomorrow. And yes me a jrichker RTV all around the water jackets, the gaskets were installed 100% correct. Like ive said before though I never got around to retoquring the lower, maybe its moved alittle to the point where it can leak. Im going to try to find time tomorrow to retorque it before I work.

I never retorqed mine and never had a problem before. It also takes me about 7-8 times around all the bolts in sequence, at the same torque, to get them to reach that torque.

Did you just torque them all to the final torque setting one time or did you repeat it 5+ times like I mentioned.

I'm not doubting you or JR's knowledge, just ruling out a couple things.

Yes, you can let the car warm up without the cap on. The cooling system just will not build pressure which is not a problem. If you have a bad leak, you will notice it when you first start it up. Let it warm up tho just to see if you notice anything. Maybe pull the throttle body a couple times to see if you notice anything abnormal in the cooling system. When you rev it a little, you might get some spillage from the rad. Don't worry, as its just pressure from the water pump and will stop when it idles again.

yea I know its not the best thing to go by, i didnt look at it and say yep their perfect, but I didnt want to spend money on stock heads. I ddnt have time to finish compression check but one whole side is at 150psi, looks good, ill finish the other side. Car is running alright, not smoking, and dosent smell, power seems to be back, I think the spark plugs may have been my problem.

how big is your cam? Your compression #s will vary with the size of the cam. . .
