What is the most amout of boost I can run on a stock engine safely on street with out breaking my block?

I was thinking about Thumper E7's, TMOSS GT40 lower, 1.7 roller rockers, stock cam, Kenne Bell flowzilla at 10 psi.

Then I was thinking why not just a KB at 16 psi with a safe tune?

Whats the better apporach? I want to be around 500 on the stock block?

Pretty much can a KB break my block on its own without detenation?

"Boost" is a function of how much air your power adder moves and how much air your engine is capable of ingesting, in layman's terms. If your power adder moves a lot, but your engine can't ingest it very quickly, you make a lot of boost. Because of this, a bone stock engine might make 400rwhp at 15lbs of boost, and the same engine with the same power adder, but with good flowing H/C/I might make 500rwhp at 12 lbs of boost.

Long story short, boost has very little, if anything to do with block durability. Stock blocks usually crack around 450-550 rwhp, regardless of what amount of boost pressure it took to get there.

I say go for it! Supporting mods and tune can make all the difference as well.

I remember an old MM&FF article where I guy with a stock 93 Cobra put a S-Trim on at 14-16psi. He dynoed at just over 500, like 508rwhp or so.

i know its been said above, but "boost" is a relative term. the number doesnt mean a whole lot without knowing the whole setup and considering a tune etc.

Hehehe...

We had a double XX trim on a 306 once, last near 2 years with a very good tune (had an old Accel Gen 6 DFI on it), took the motor apart and the rods were actually squished..lol Made 25psi, TFS R heads and intake

Put that same blower on another friends stock motor, went 5 miles in town before it blew both heads off the motor something about the 28psi it made...

Now in all seriousness.. its not the boost that will kill you, like mentioned above it is the power and more important the tune. If it detonates it will cause issues.... Head studs help as the e7's can lift easily under 10psi.
