Motive Gears Good or Bad ?

I recently bought my FRPP 4.10's , but someone at my work asked me about Motive gears and is wondering if they are worth getting. I couldn't really answer his question, because I do not have any experience with Motive. I told him I will check the forums for answers.

I read somewhere on this forum or Corral that FRPP is No. 1, Motive is good and a strong second, and Pro - 5.0 is decent but behind FRPP and Motive. This is a sweeping generalization, of course, but FRPP gears seem to be the favorite.

I have to shops local here, one being what more than a few people chose to travel to for mods, Panhandle Performance, and they like the Motive Gear choice.

I have no experience with motive, but Ive heard one or two unhappy people with them that said they whined. This could be the way they are installed though. Mustangtuning says on their site that they are a good alternative to the FRPP. Wish Ford would come out with a 3.90 gear...

The only complaint I have heard about FRPP is that someone didn't go low enough on the gears.I would spend a couple more dollars and get the best.just my .02

Motive gears are just as good as FRPP. The only reason that people tend to choose FRPP is usually cheaper than anything else. I have them in my F-150 I have had no problems at all for the last 70000 miles.

for the extra 20 or 30 get the fords, motive is supposedly louder.

My motive gears are working great. The only noise I get is the car vibrating. Need sub-frames bad.

something wasn't right with what happened to you...either your mechanic didn't know what he was doing, or those gears were for another car, possibly the 7.5 inch rear end listed on mustangtuning.com's site

i have motive 3.73's in my 88 and no problems, they don't even whine, like most people say theres do

Sounds like motive is a hit and miss type of deal.Some like, some don't, whereas I haven't heard anything bad about FRPP.

ya i figured that too, but the motive were on sale when i was looking, they were like $100 less than i could find FRPP

$100? They're like $20-30 less in most cases

That is true but you can catch Motive on sale more so than FRPP. I wonder if some individuals mistake the wine of a gear from something shaking on their car. Never heard a wine from a gear but I am sure its noticeable.

almost 10k HARD miles on my Motive 3.90's ... no problems and no whine... there just as strong if not stronger than FRPP gears..
