the next time i get a tranny done i will be doing it myself. i had this guy to swap out a tranny. of course i drove my car to his house....he unbolted the tranny and found out that the other tranny that was to be put in needed a shorter driveshaft.(or so he says). so i tell him to put the old tranny back in.(it was still very driveable). when i try to crank it i only hear a hard click. so 2 days later i tow the car back to my house then my other buddy comes over(hes a really good mechanic). he tries everything to try to turn the motor by hand by the crankshaft and the tconverter bolts. it wouldnt budge for anything. he says the motor is locked up but i tell him what happened about the last person puttin it in and he says that the guy put the tranny in there wrong on purpose thats why it wont turn at all. what could the guy have done to make my car act as if its locked up? my motor has plenty of oil.(just had it changed before the attempted swap). never ran hot. never any knocks. i kept up the motor really good. been back and forth to texas to weeks in a row. oh yeah i forgot to tell you i seen when the shady mech took out the torque converter. tranny fluid was everywhere. i seen when he put it back in without adding tranny fluid back in it. could this also be the problem?

not too much experience with aod swaps but if he left a torque converter bolt loose/backed out it would simulate a siezed motor if it was hitting the bellhousing etc. But like I said , thats just a guess.

+2 see if the motor will turn a bit the other way and if it turns a bit and gets stuck again it is probably that.

Torque converter wasn't seated all the way in and he crushed it against the flywheel. He owes you a new torque converter.

You have to pull the tranny, then carefully push the new torque converter on the transmission input shaft until the inner and outer splines line up and it slides all the way back.

I hope this dude is a stand up guy and at least gets you a new torque converter.

he can just un bolt the trans and let the converter stay on the flywheel. then take the converter off.

+1 on the torque converter not being fully engaged with the front pump. You have to rotate it while pushing it into the trans until it doesn't go back any more. It's not necessarily ruined, but there could absolutely be some damage to it.

Take your upper manifold off and you can get to the top bolts from the engine bay, it's very easy, i did it on my 94 and it's WAY tigher o work on than a FOX
