Motor mount options for turbo'd B18C in SN95???

Hey guys, sage2k and I are in the middle of project that has not been done before to my knowledge. We got our inspiration from the Skyline engine that was put in the '67 Mustang in the Fast and the Furious movies. We found a donor car with a B18C motor and rebuilt it with a forged crank, low compression pistons and dropped a turbo ontop of it.

My question is, what (if any) motor mount options do I have or will it have to be custom fabbed everything. We are also open to going with an aftermarket K-member to give us the clearance we need.

sage2k - any other questions than you can think of?

Anybody know what kind of power my b18 will make with 15psi?

Besides the motor mounts Im trying to figure out how I will tune the engine.
I can swap the harness into the car and use hondata, or I can get a megasquirt setup which would be the most cost effective and easiest method?

I'm also looking into getting a new TIG welder, any ideal setups for a project like this? There will be alot of welding to get the turbo setup and some misc brackets.

I'm looking into getting this into the high 12s/ Low 13s. This thing should rev to near 8k rpm. I need gears that are higher than 4.56 to keep it in the powerband. Any suggestions? Will I have launching problems with > 4.56 gears what about streetability? I'll be running 315's on 17x11 torq thrust 2s. Probably have a set of tires for the track too

well the torque will be less than the 5.0 but I will be gearing the car up which will multiply enough torque I think to get it moving good

You are right about it being low on torque down low but I'm hoping the topend horsepower will more than make up for it. Motors with a similar internal and turbo setup are well in the 400hp AT THE WHEELS through the front-wheel drive cars.

Our thought is to launch it off the limiter and then give it hell the rest of the way down the track. It should be awesome on the street (from a roll).

Back on subject though - anyone with any ideas on the motor mounts or sage2k's list of questions?

this seems like an april fools joke, but in case its not i will humor this thread with a response. without knowing the specs of the the turbo, the amount of boost, and what compression the bottom end is at it is difficult to estimate power numbers, but every built b18c/turbo car i have seen has been between 375-650hp. the lower number being a street car at 10psi and the second being a street/strip car at 28psi. unfortunately that type of project is going to cost more in fabrication than it is worth being that you can toss a blower on a stock bottom 302 and hit the 375hp mark with no issue, but it will certainly be something that will turn heads.

This is so dumb u shoulda bought a hatch that weighs only 1800 lbs instead of a 3300 lbs mustang. Plus you could prolly find a roller hatch for like 200 dollars. This is disgusting

It is very different but. for how does a v6 power a mustang?

It will get going I think the gears will be to steep would take forever to get going but the torque will be there as for street driving its going to rough..

I dont think its stupid, JUST ODD.

Get the stock motor mount for that motor and make brackets from that.

That little car is going to fly.

BS on the mustang though.

Your HP #s were actually pretty dang close to what we are expecting out of the motor. It's been a fun build for my neighbor that we've been doing in my shop... the motor is back in the car and he's routing all his hoses etc... hope to crank it up next week.

It was just chance that Sam's car happened to be in the pics and we were bored and it was April Fool's day... what else could ya do?

If it performs like he is talking it up, it will be a screamin' fast ride... he's done the entire build right... pretty much aftermarket everything where the stock pieces (which are WAAAY nicer than Ford stuff) do not suffice.
