If i were to change my motor mounts considering the engine is out.... what kind should i get? Solid motor mounts or some sort of polyurethane motor mounts?
IMO I'd go with either stock replacements or the poly's. From what I've heard solid mounts are for all out drag cars, and would transfer all the engine's vibrations to the chassis and thus inside the car.
The poly mounts are stiffer than the stockers just from the given material. Not as bad as solid mounts though. If u search, most guys dont complain about poly mounts.
i got the prothane mounts, little more harshness but not terrible. they did raise the motor up some also. i noticed more harshness when i put the prothane tranny mount in after the motor mounts.
I used a set of solid mounts on a car I built some years ago, I have one thing to say, never again, not on a street car. too noisy, too brutal, not to mention those hits have to abuse the heck out of the rest of your drive train
I'd probably go with the Energy Suspension's mounts. You'll be more than happy with them and they are a lot better than stock IMO. I run HPM extream duty solids on my 95 and don't mind them, but there is some vibration with them. I wouldn't run them on anything that wasn't completely balanced out or something that was a daily driver.
