I have an 88 vert. and the motor spins with a wrench but when i get to one particular spot it stops and locks up.

my nephew was driving out of the driveway when it locked up and died.

any ideas what could cause this.

I think it is possibly a droped valve that is blocking the piston. could it be anything else

I haven't got into the yet so I guess I'll checkthat first

if it did is there a possibility that some valves are bent

The engine is not an interference engine. It is physically impossible for a valve to touch the pistons (unless you were to get huge lift cam and/or mill the head a whole bunch for compression). Even then, the valve will compress the spring instead of causing damage to the valve or piston. I doubt this is your problem.

I suppose it is possible a valve broke off...

can you turn over the engine after taking out the spark plugs? You could also stick a screwdriver in the spark plug hole and feel for an obstruciton in the cylinder.

Then, I'd probably pull the valve cover and look for problems. Then, pull the head.

thanks,

I'll keep the post currant for anyother questions

I don't know much about 2.3 or fox body cars in general . I have two older mustang 66, and 71 that I am more familiar with so I'll have plenty of questions as I get into this one
