Grady, did you ever wrench on any old Triumphs? At higher RPM's the cam deflection was so bad that the ignition timing was all over the place. Thinking about this stuff reminded me of that for some reason.

A VERY long time ago I did some work for a guy who had an old Triumph.

I had always heard how the English bikes were different! When I was testing it after wrenching on it a bit .......................

I got my feet confused and down shifted the brakes in a turn ................

After my heart pumped a few beats of peanut butter ..............

I started to enjoy the fine handling of that old bike!

Kris, any idea what brand it is or who makes it?

You might be able to find a Pioneer non SFI unit locally for under 100 bucks, which is the direction I would lead (though I know nothing about the one you linked to).

Back when I was just getting into cars (1976....), I bought a TR4A IRS Surrey top (Like a Porsche Targa) from my neighbors across the street. What a fun ride that was. We beat the Stuffing out of it. Too bad we didn't know what it was....
At the time, they had a 66 SS396 Chevelle, a 442 olds, a Jag XKE (we went 140mph in this), a '67 GTA fastback (Red with white stripes, we went 105 in 2nd gear, trying to get it to shift into 3rd), the Triumph, an Imperial for cruisin, and a 69 Charger with a 440 (left the longest pair of black streaks...).
Just the kind of neighbor you need when you are 15....
And I bought the Triumph.....DOH

a50, good stuff. I cut my teeth on Euro cars, so they have a soft spot in my heart. You get to be a master electrician working on old Lucas electrical.

Man, it doesnt matter to me one bit. As you can see from my last post, I dig all that old stuff (cars and bikes: British, Italian, German, etc). I think it all had a certain charm, with all its funkiness (things like some old Jags having two fuel pumps, so that one hopefully worked at all times. Who decided that this was acceptable? It does add charm). The weirder it was, the more I liked it. My buddy had a mini cooper (original, not the Rover version) with a Yammie motorcycle (1.3L) motor - it was a blast. Stuff like that is my kind of rides.
