motor swap

$11,000 to $12,000 grand for the complete motor with everything and computer. Thats not counting labor. Not the very smartest thing to do unless you make a large some of money and burning a whole in your pocket. I think you can find a used 03 cobra engine out of a wrecked car for $7,000 - $8,000. And if you keep it stock your looking at 365 rwhp.

Buy a paxton novi 2000 or a s-trim kit for $4,000 and have 400 rwhp. And save $8,000

Truth, everyone keeps saying it's probably not the best invest in money, but I counter with ..... how many miles is on the current motor?

A rebuild then the supercharger ... it's a wash.

New motor, new power and more importantly you keep your old motor as a backup. I think it's a good idea for the 03 motor swap if your modular is getting long in the tooth. :nice:

That would be one heck of a project... but the results would rock... However, it might be more affordable to get a 96 GT and stuff the motor in there. It cost me 2200 for new internals, 3000 for labor of pulling engine, taking heads off, and putting it all together again (post turbo), 4225 for turbo kit installed and tuned... 10000. But, on the other hand... the "wow" factor might be higher for the engine swap...

The more i look at this swap i think its as smart as doing a 4valve 01 crate or mach 1 crate and rebuilding with forged interals. In the end its going to cost you about the same but you'll get a new motor thats already built and it'll be less trouble to get it setup.

If i started with a cobra i would have just built the whole engine up. I would only get the 03 motor if i was looking to do a swap and i got it for a good deal.

As for doing the swap you just need the motor, fuel system, and tune. I think that site cobrapoweredgt.com can give you a better idea.

Don't quote me on it but i'm guessing the swap would be the same as puttin a 99 or 01 4v in your car.

Well you need to consider how much power youd be making with an 03 cobra setup vs a stock 4 valve with no supercharger...quite a bit more with the cobra & with forged internals already.

Really any way you look at it its gonna cost you between 8-12k to build it right for 500+ rwhp on high boost.

03 cobra might have forged internals but they are not the best..I would just rebuilt the 4V with good forged internals then slap a blower...cheaper.

Not the best based on what? They have taken between 700 and 800 hp so far and tons of abuse...I dont know of a production engine built to handle that kinda power. Even the viper motor would blow before the cobra would.

well read on the board...some people are not that happy with them. (teflon coating rubbing after 10,000 miles or something...)
when u sell an engine for 12K u are entitled to expect top notch quality in internals. I' d rather get a built block from VTengines/T&J than getting the 03 cobra engine for the same price.

And how much would it cost for a low compression built 4-valve engine...if they provide the engine and everything? 10-12k?
