Anyone have any idea how long the 8mm Ford motorsport sparkplug wires are good for.I'm about to do a tune up on my stock motor and was wondering if I should include a new set of wires. The current set have been on for at least 50,000 miles. Thanks for the help.

I think they will last just as long if not longer than a stock set. You should be fine with them just be gentle when removing them and use some of the silicon grease in the boot ends when re-installing them.

Spend your money on a set of MSD or other set of wires and skip the motorsport wires. I had a set and they were horrible all around. The resistance was much greater than my accel wires and I had them about six months before one of them was broke and cracked. I am not a fan of the fms wires. I really like the accel 300+ wires and also the MSD wires.

As another option, you could take them off and inspect them visually and with an ohmeter. Dr. Jacobs wrote a few pages on wires inspection in his book. FWIW, I've had my FMS wires for....approximately 20,000 miles.

I've had my FMS wires for about 40,000 miles and they work great.

I just did a tune up and inspected them and they look great. No burns or wear spots at all (gotta route them properly to stay off hot surfaces). I was getting my alignment checked a few days later and had the shop test the wires and they said they were perfect.

I was ticked when I first got the wires, because of how long they were, but once I routed them properly, they do what their supposed to do on my stock ignition. Probably overkill, too, but I like red. :)

I have had more issues with the 300+ wires like you describe. Between me and my buds we have bought 4-6 sets of FMS wires and have yet to run into an issue with them. While almost everyone that I know who uses the 300+ wires is not happy with them.

My wires have treated me well for the past 50000.No problems to speak off except for the fact that they fit like garbage.I thought maybe I was supposed to mount the coil in the trunk or something. The only problem bad wires would cause would be missfiring right?I'll check real good and make sure they are in good shape and not burnt.
