moving solenoid

did any of you guys have to get a longer starter wire when yall did this?

i moved the solenoid right behind where it was mounted stock.

also what size is the big wire going from the starter to the solenoid....4g?

I haven't moved mine but yes it's 4 gauge.

You can go to autozone or advanced auto an get one they are right by the battery cables.

4 ga will work fine.

Another suggetion:
Most place that sell boats usually have a shop in the back where the mechanics or technicians make different length of cables for different models of outboard motors or trolling motors and it is nothing for them to make up any length of cable you’ll need.

ok thanks ALMOST STOCK, ive got a 4 ga cable from a drag car i had. i ran a single wire alternator. the cable goes from the alternator, up to the front of the car, ran it along the headlight harness, around the battery, and to the solenoid. maybe 6 feet in all. do you think this would be long enough or do you think i need longer? lowes sales the same type cable as the stock wiring. thats where i got this from cable from. yay or nay?

I ran my starter cable lower than what you're talking about (under the radiator support ) and if I remember correctly seems like my cable was around 74" long, but since that was almost 7 years ago I won't swear to anything.

But If I had to guess I'd say 6 ft isn't going to make it routing it the way you're talking about, but I've been known to be wrong before.

My biggest concern is how far you you run a 4 ga cable before you start running into problems.
