Well, I'm about done with commercial diving school, as such, like everyone else I'm moving to LA, just wondering how many people know the area, I.E. companies to work for, good places to live, places to avoid and such, anyway, take it easy.

there three towns I guess right by each other that all the dive companies run out of, morgan city, new iberia and harvy. All just south of new Orleans. I've just never been to the East coast, so I was wondering what to expesct, I know alot of people in my class are in for culture shock... At least I travelled alot with my parents, and in The Marines, so I can deal with people. Some people in my class have never been out of western washington (wich is now like a cold wet california).

The West Bank (of the Mississippi River)=Harvey. New Iberia is closer to Lafayette and Morgan City is in between the two...sort of.

East Coast? Far from it...try Gulf South and yes...you left coasters are in for a real culture shock.

Check my sig for a club based in Gonzales...feel free to sign up and we will make you feel welcome. Once you get here we can help you out with any questions you have...

damn, Morgan City and New Iberia... that's a totally different world there!

Harvey isn't too bad, but most people seem to frown upon the west bank. I personally hate ALL of the NO metro area equally.

Denham Springs/Livingston area is nice on I12, as is Hammond and it's close towns.

Try to live above I-10, that way a hurricane won't take you away. It's going to be one helluva cane season this year

You're originally from Washington and you're relocating to Southern Louisiana!? Yeah, mild culture shock at the very least! DOH! Hell, it'll take you more than a year before you'll even be able to understand the accent of the locals, at least the english speaking ones...

U.M.

P.S. The food is FANTASTIC there though!
