ive said it many times. the kb comes with an intake, to even the battle you have to pair up the vortech or paxton with the p-51.

then it will be a fair compairison between the 2.:nice:
 
I like the way gearbanger put it! I love the sound of a Kenne Bell blower Whining Like in the MPH Compilation Videos! So Basically both blowers are doing the same thing forcing air into the engine but the Kenne Bell replaces the whole Intake and allows more air into the engine so if you replaced all PI Intake Upper intake plentum and put on a Vortec it would be comparable! Another Thing Someone Said that a Centrifugal blower will run quicker in the 1/4 mile compared to KB??? I don't understand If you have two cars making 400 horse and 420 lb/ft torque one is a Centri and one is a KB With other things being equal What is the Case??? I actually would like to see the science behind why one blower would be better than the other?? Boost Curves are also different between the two Which means different power curves! Any Tech Articles would be appreciated. They should make The Argumennt "Centri Vs. Screw" A Sticky because I know Many people debate this issue. Thanx

Then you've got guys who like to compare two different blown set ups based on the amount of power they're making at a particular boost level.......which is no good either, since the size of the pulley and capability of the blower actually tells only half the battle when calculating boost. A Kenne Bell will make better power (most of the time) at a lesser boost level on the gauge, since it's got a strait, large diameter, short intake runners to back it. No need for long conservative sized runners to generate low end torque figures, since the blower itself produces heaping volumes of airflow at realativly low blower RPM.

You bolt on a Centrifugal blower to a 2V car with a stock intake manifold and it's alwasy going to make less power at the same boost level as a Twin Screw, since the most of the airflow it's making is being backed up in the intake track. To compensate for this, you've ether got to force it in a little harder (to an extent) by swapping out the pulley, or bolt on a higher flowing intake to free up some of that back pressure.

In any case, I've never been in a blown car that didn't make me grin from ear to ear, regardless of what method the owner used to force air into the engine. So try not to take most of these "opinions" based on nothing more than seat of the pants feel too seriously. At the end of the day, the only way to really find out which type of blown car is the faster, is to take into consideration all of the supporting modifications and mechanical factors between the two cars and run em down the 1320 to see who comes out on top.

The "Centrifugal is faster at the track than a Positive Displacement" statement doesn’t often have a whole lot to do with the difference in power that the two are making. It's well documented that the Positive Displacement blowers nearly always make more power under the curve that a Centi does. And if we were in a perfect world, with two completely equal cars (one being Centrifugal powered, the other being Positive Displacment powered) making the exact same level horsepower and torque levels, with limitless amounts of traction available.....then theoretically, the PD car should almost always come out the victor.

The problem is, is that although all of that looks good on paper, real races aren't run by comparing horsepower and torque curves on a dyno slip. Almost every person on here (with perhaps the exception of Jim, GI Joe and a few other hardcore drag racers) are mostly concerned with adding gianormous amounts of torque and horsepower, then rely on nothing more than the stock suspension, a set of sub-frame connectors and a pair of Drag Radials to put it all into perspective. Where this might be enough at “street car” power levels to keep things from getting too badly out of shape with a Centrifugal powered car (which we all know are RPM dependant and in turn allows them to move their production of air volume at a more gradual and controlled fashion), it's more often than not, no where near enough work to contend with the PD car that's making full boost and huge amounts of air flow by 2000rpm and all but overwhelms the near stock suspension. All this while the Centi car is comfortably on it’s way down the track, the PD car is still struggling to keep things together in the first 60ft.

You’ll often hear arguing back and forth from each camp about how a PD blower makes more “Horsepower under the curve”…..which is great, but what good is all of that torque and horsepower if you can’t get it to the ground? And the harsh reality for some is, is that this is what it often comes down to. You can make all of the horsepower and torque under the curve that you’d like, but if you’re only addressing that area of your car, chances are that you’re going to get beat by someone who did it right the first time by addressing more than just the power train…….and still sports a smaller dyno sheet that you. :(
 
Gear Banger your knowledge never ceases to impress me! That Should be at the top of the Thread " Centri Vs. Screw" ! So basically in my case I have 4.10's in a stock auto and without a blower have a rough time getting out of the hole on the street! So Getting a KB would make it next To impossible to get out of the hole on the street! Yea I need to improve my traction! As far as rear suspension I have eibach springs! What can I do to improve That Sorry to change subject! That was very well put if you cant get the power to the ground what good is it! So in my case a centri would be more idealistic! That doesn't make any sense you should always be able to get better traction at the track then on the street! Unless the track sucks. I have to barely get into it on the street to get out of the hole without spinning. And at the track I can power brake it out of the hole and have no troble getting traction!

I guess the track I ran on sucks then. It was like launching on ice. Traction was non-existant. Never had that much problem on the street.

Also remember I'm running on a twin screw with 4.10 gears on massive Goodyear GSD3 315/35/17 street tires. They perform very well on street surface but not at the strip. I'm at the point where I need DRs or slicks.
