hey guys, i had a quick question about the Mr. Clean AutoDry car wash. what is the car wash "soap" that we put in, i just wonder how it compares to Dawn in removing the wax. also what wax does everyone recommend? i was considering trying zaino, but i've heard good things about the new NXT from meguiers. any preferences?

The only product I have every heard of that require wax/oils to be removed from the paint is Zaino. Unless you are using Zaino there is absolutely no reason to ever use Dawn on your paint. Today's car waxes do not build up on your paint so there is really no need to remove them. Dawn is just too harsh on rubber and plasic parts to use on a regular basis. Meguiars NXT is not that expensive and readily available. Can't hurt to give it a try and if you don't like it Meguiars will give you your money back and you can go buy Zaino. With NXT you have nothing to lose so why not give it a shot.

A couple of tips to help you avoid any problems with NXT

1. Put it on thin
2. It needs to cure for at least 15 minutes before you wipe it off, possibly longer if you put it on too thick or if it is humid. Try the swipe test (wipe a little spot with your finger and if it smears, it is not ready) to be sure before you wipe it off.
3. If you are going to do a second coat of NXT wait about 12-24 hours to let the first coat fully cure and you will get better results. Any more than 2-3 coats is just a waist of time and product.
