MSD 6A Ignition Controler

Does anyone else have the MSD 6A ignition control box installed on their car? Is it supposed to make a noise when the car is running? Mine makes a small distinctive sound, kind of like a small motor running. The car runs fine and everything else seems to be ok. The noise isn't very loud but a noise none the less.

I have never owned an MSD but I have heard that some of the units make noise which some think means they will fail earlier than other units that dont have a noise but most think not. From what I hear I cant be sure if all the units makes a noise but some owners dont hear it or some units are more or less silent. Hope someone else who has owned a few units can let us know more.
