Anyone hiding their MSD 6AL's under the dash somewhere.

if so how much wire lengthining was needed?

where under the dash did you put it, ( I was thinking of putting mine under the dash on the pass side)?

Were it me, I would put it under the pass seat. It is fairly accessible down there and has some ventilation. Some guys go pretty high up on the firewall (on the inside of the car) on the pass side (where people's feet go). That would work ok too.

When i got my car the msd box was mounted on the framerail below the battery. So I moved mine to the passenger side of the floorbaord kinda up on the trans hull where it wouldn't be kicked so easy. I got rid of all those god awfull but connectors and soldered and heatshrinked all the conections. As to how much wire, idunno maybe 25-30ft total seeing as there is 5-7 wires(don't remember exactly) and i used 5-7 ft of wire for each connection.

Since we're on the subject , is it normal for the msd to make a little noise? Kinda like a constant hum whenever the car is on?

not sure about the noise, I have always had them in the engine compartment.

I was just looking under the dash on the pass side, and all the air boxes take up about everybit of room, any body got pics of an installation there?
i do have AC though

I think I am starting to like the under the seat thing

i have mine in the fenderwell on the drivers side.

NOTE: DO NOT mount them in the engine bay. When mine died last summer (most likely from being in the engine bay, but it was 4 years old). the MSD tech told me that was bad becasue it absorbs all the engine heat. He said that putting it places like in the fenderwell helps keep it cooler. Some people have them in the engine bays forever and have no problems, but thats just what he told me.

Thank for the info, I was wondering how they lasted in the engine.
And now I know it can be put in the fenderwell along with everything else.

I've had mine in the engine bay for several years.

As far as noise from the box...I used my stethiscope on it and it made almost as much noise as the tb. Just a different frequency. That suprised me.

Putting it in the fenderwell is a good idea, I may be doing that pretty soon.:nice:

Mine is mounted directly under the batter on the opposite side of the fender. I am going to get a CAI just to mount the MSD in the engine compartment in that corner. Not that I drive in the rain but you can't always predict the weather and its disconscerning that its down there and can get splashed.
