Just curious if anyone has tried these out yet - MSD Blaster COPs. They are $ 400 a set so...

i bought the accel coils and love them i installed them after my 75mm throtle body and plenum and noticed a little bit quicker throtle response all 8 cost me $200 from brothers performance

Thanx for the replies. My last spark plug change (to copper) made the the engine VERY happy. Just looking for an "edge". I figure these 4.6s are designed to go 200K +, but I'd like to ease the trip for this stout hearted engine.

Is it recommended to go copper? Copper doesnt last as long a Platinum? or what?

I am just going to relate my story.

I had platinums with 50K on 'em.

I switched to Autolite copper core plugs (764s, IIRC) , and the motor was much happier.

Your mileage may vary (YMMV) Just in my case, and I have had this car since new, but yes, for my car, these copper core plugs made the engine run better.

Copper is hotter, platinum lasts longer.

For a car enthusiast who wants to change his plugs every two years and wants max performance COPPER.

For a lazy bastard who does not care and never wants to worry about it PLATINUM.


And for n/a GTs I would specifically suggest AGSF-32C gapped at .054

I do not recommend the AutoLites because they have the short thread design like the AWSF series. Ford no longer recommends the short thread design for 2V4.6 so neither do I...

anyone else have any experience with the msd cop's?

I'm going to replace mine by spring next year and was wondering same thing tripleblk was, if they are worth the price.

would these blasters work better on a modded engine rather than stock?

to justify spending 200 bucks more than what is required for a stock n/a car is something i could not do. I chose motoblue spark plugs from rpmoutlet....accels are comparable

IF the MSD's give you anything over a standard aftermarket COP other than its name, our engines wont benefit much from it

I wouldn't have dug the thread up to say this, but I will since someone else dug it up.

No experience with the MSDs but I put a set of ACCELs in a couple of weeks ago while I was in there changing plugs. I was having an occasional hesitation at low RPMs that I had tried to chase off once before with new plugs, and filters without any success. The hesitation is now gone since the change and there's a little better throttle response, but I did put in new plugs, COPs and air filter all at the same time. Filled up yesterday and had gotten just over 22mpg.

For twice the price I don't see the MSDs being worth it on a stock/bolt-on NA car unless some reliability issues creep up later with these ACCELs.
