Well last night my car was acting a little funny, sorta like when the coil went out on it the first time... Anyways i was going to the parts store to get another coil this morning and the car wouldn't even start...

So i thought about it for a moment and bypassed the MSD Box and it started right up... It might be my imagination but it feels stronger then ever on just the stock ignition... (lot more lower end torque)

Why is it not uncommon for these things to go out? I have heard of a couple other guys running MSD having problems too. I am going to send it off this week and have it fixed (would rether pay like 30-50 dollars to have it rebuilt rether then 200+ for something else)

Im also taking some extra precautions by reinstalling it under my passanger seat intstead in the engine compartment...

I plan on having it retuned after i get it to see if it was acting up during my last tune... Im want to reach the big 500... Thinking of getting a smaller pulley but would reather do it with the 2.95 one.

Sorry to hear about your part failure but more that one person has told me that

M S D stands for Might Suddenly Die

I agree with you as I have seen quite a few threads about their products not going the distance. You may have something with the thought about keeping the box cool.

it could be the under hood heat i have a couple of friends that sent theirs back and they work good as new with no problems since when it comes to electonics heat is bad

yeah it has gotten a little warm before but lately my engine compartment stays pretty cool... Don't run it long enough to heat up... Between moisture and heat i guess it was just a matter of time...

So far i have had one msd blaster coil go bad and now the msd box.. 0-2 on longivity..

I'm moving mine inside the car. Seems to be a common problem. Location also is the main reason for failure.

MSd is the most widely distributed ignition, of course some of them are gonna have problems. There are TONS of people who have no issues.

I have mine in the drivers side fenderwell. I had this MSD 6A for about 6 years with no problems. I had it in 3 different cars. My friend had one in his 88 GT right in the engine compartment for over 7 years with no problems.

Seems like some last pretty good.

Would a near stock motor see any benefit from getting one of these boxes?

I didn't see any differences with my box. The main reason I bought it was so I could get a timing control box.
