I have two MSD boxes. I have a 6A and a timing control. My 6A box went out on me again. This is the second time it has happened. The first time I sent it in and they fixed and sent it back to me it worked fine until today. It went out the end of last summer and went out the first of this summer. I am guessing the heat kills these things. When I get it back I will put it under one of my seats in the car. The whole point of this thread is I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Ive had my 6al for almost 3 years now, no problems with it at all. Ive always had it under my CAI. I now moved it to under my rear seat delete.

I also had a timing control, no probs with that either.

I have had mine for over 7 years with no problems. I had it in 2 different cars and multiple places under the hood. It now resides in my drivers side fender.

I have the MSD 6A

I have no prob with my timing it is just my 6A box. I have a friend with a 4.6 mustang and he is having problems with his 6AL box right now too. I think we are just got unlucky ones because I have seen a lot of people with MSD boxes and never had any problems. Plus MSD has great customer service so they will fix it right away for me. Sorry about the dumb thread just wanted to see if anyone had any problems with it that lived in a hot place.

Hi,
My MSD box went out Sunday on the way to work, had to have the car towed to my son's house cause I was leaving on Co business for a couple days. I have had it for less than a year, it is mounted on the driver side firewall. Turned it in where I bought it and they gave me a new one.
Hope this isn't a trend..

If it goes out again you can hook up the old ignition and it should start right up.

I've had my MSD6BTM for about a year. It's also mounted on the driver's side firewall. Since the motor will be out in a few weeks I'm going to move it in the car.

Wellllllllll that is a problem when you don't do the work yourself, Jay my son (ASE certified) does all my work. He has air tools and a lift. Will definately have #1 son show me that trick..

I have a digital 6 box that I thought was bad. I sent it to MSD without a warranty or proof of purchase or anything and they tested it right away and then confirmed it was working OK and sent it right back to me, without any charge. I would give their customer service an A.

What type of benefits would I see running one of these boxes with stock heads and cam?

Nothing really. I didnt really a difference at all. I don't even know why I bought one in the first place. Well, I take that back I love my timing control box it takes me second to change the timing. And I have to have the 6A box to do that.
