I just got done trying to install the latest MSD blaster coil (red plastic molded one) in my notch. Took out the OEM coil, installed the MSD, thought I was all done until the ignition wire coming from the distributor didn't fit the coil terminal? The OEM coil had a small square tab terminal connection and the MSD coil has the same round connection as at the distributer??

I can't believe it requires a different wire to hook up..?? I thought it was a direct bolt on...

Does my MSD Coil has a different connection terminal than yours?
Do you just modify your stock wire end or do they make a MSD specific wire?

Mine looks just like the OEM one, is yours a "Blaster TFI" or just a universal Blaster?

It says Blaster Ford TFI MSD P/N 8227.
I think they recently changed the coil design as mine is all red and one piece molded plastic. The coil has all the same mounting points and features but the only difference is the iginition wire terminal. I think the older MSD design used to have the black square mounting bracket on it similar to the OEM ford?
Maybe I am wrong, but that is my guess.

I got mine about 8 months ago and it was a direct bolt in.

Does your coil terminal look the same as the one in the picture on the link that liquid posted? My OEM coil does not, maybe it was changed by someone else at some point because it is a smaller square post....similar to a large spade connector.
My MSD coil has the round, bowling pin shaped terminal like the distributor cap terminals.

IDK, maybe you got a mislabeled coil?

I looked online at 5.0 resto and the picture they have of the OEM coil look in the MSD coil I recieved. I think the previous owner must have installed a different coil than OEM, maybe a universal.
I found a local auto parts store that sells MSD wire and some cheap crimplers....I will probably just make a new wire and install it with the coil.

I just removed the stock coil and realized it was broken at the connection point. The OEM and MSD are the same attachment style. The OEM coil I had snapped off inside the spack plug wire and that is why it looked funny and didn't fit the MSD.
